The study of computers and computational systems is known as computer science. Computer scientists, as opposed to electrical and computer engineers, focus primarily on software and software systems, including their theory, design, development, and application. Artificial intelligence, computer systems and networks, security, database systems, human-computer interaction, vision and graphics, numerical analysis, programming languages, software engineering, bioinformatics, and computing theory are among the main fields of study in computer science. Although it is a prerequisite for studying computer science, programming is simply one aspect of the subject. Computer scientists research the functionality of computer hardware and software and create and evaluate algorithms to solve problems. Computer scientists deal with a variety of issues, from the abstract (figuring out which problems can be solved by computers and how complicated the algorithms that solve them are) to the concrete (creating applications that work well on portable devices, are user-friendly, and respect security protocols).
The US Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects that the computer and information technology industry will increase by 13% between 2016 and 2026—a rate that is higher than the average for all occupations. Computer science graduates can work in a wide range of industries, including as programming, information security, website building, and software engineering. The
abilities you will acquire in this degree program can be used to a wide range of career responsibilities, from report writing to programming languages. These roles include:
Database administrator
A database administrator, or DBA, is responsible for maintaining, securing, and operating databases and also ensures that data is correctly stored and retrieved. In addition, DBAs often work with developers to design and implement new features and troubleshoot any issues.
Software developer
Software developers use their programming skills to create new software and improve existing software applications. They design and write the code used to build everything from operating systems to mobile apps to video games.
Computer hardware engineers
research, design, develop, and test computer systems and components.er hardware engineer
Computer network architect
Computer network architects design and implement data communication networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and intranets. These networks range from small connections between two offices to virtual capabilities such as a cloud infrastructure that serves multiple customers.
Research scientist
Research scientists contribute to knowledge in the fields of the natural sciences, medical science, computer science, environmental science and the social sciences. They make hypotheses, collect data and interpret results in order to answer questions about humans and the natural world
Robotics
robotics, design, construction, and use of machines (robots) to perform tasks done traditionally by human beings. Robots are widely used in such industries as automobile manufacture to perform simple repetitive tasks, and in industries where work must be performed in environments hazardous to humans.
Programmer
Programmers write code for computer programs and mobile applications. They also are involved in maintaining, debugging and troubleshooting systems and software to ensure that everything is running smoothly.
